Monika Sumberova
Monika Sumberova graduated at Charles University in Prague in 2001 in international relations. In 2008 she expects to finish her PhD study (study program International political relations) at University of Economics. Her PhD thesis is focused on Diplomatic culture. Since 2002 she works as a lecturer at the Department of Human geography and Regional Development (from 2005 as the secretary of the Department). She teaches several courses from political science, international law and international relations. In 2005 she took part in the Fulbright Summer institute (The influence of American media on political processes). Her research is oriented on the role of culture in international relations, political integration processes and election geography.

Katerina Janku
Katerina Janku graduated at Masaryk University in Brno in 2001 in sociology. Recently, she is completing her dissertation in the same institution. Katerina Janku is a lecturer at University of Ostrava and she also teaches at Masaryk University within the Social Anthropology Programme. Her research interests consist of etnograpnic method in sociology, researching migration from the daily life perspective and the situation of Roma in contemporary Czech Republic.

Vladimir Baar
Vladimír Baar graduated from Comenius University in Bratislava (Slovakia) in geography, then he received his Ph.D. from Charles University in Prague (Czechia) in regional geography and he is associated professor at the Faculty of Political Science and International relations in Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica (Slovakia). He served as the head of Dep. of Human Geography and Regional Development (2000-2004) and then as the Rector of the University of Ostrava (2004-2007). Now he is the head of the Centre of Political and Cultural Geography. He focuses primarily on geopolitical, geocultural and geoeconomic processes over the world, ethnic conflicts and international relations, especially in the Asia, Oceania and post communist countries. Monograph, titled as "Nations on the Beginning of the 21st Century - Emancipation or Nationalization?“, is considered to be his most popular one.
Tomas Drobik
Tomas Drobik graduated from the University of Ostrava in human geography and he is studying for his PhD degree at Charles University in Prague. Since 2004 he works as a lecturer at the department of human geography and regional development where he teaches several courses such as New approaches to political geography, Cultural geography, Political system of the Czech Republic and Socio-geographical problems of the Middle East and Africa. He professionally focuses on political geography, geopolitics and international relations of the Middle East and contemporary Islam. He is a member of the Centre of Political and Cultural Geography at the Department of Human Geography and Regional development.

Jiri Novosak
Jiri Novosak graduated at the Palacký University in Olomouc in 2002 in Mathematics and Geography. Recently, he is going to complete his PhD studies at the University of Ostrava in Environmental Geography. Since September 2006 Jiri Novosak lectures at the Tomas Bata University in Zlin (Faculty of Economics and Management) and actually, since February 2007 he is the Deputy Director of the newly established Institute for Migration and Development Research at European Polytechnic Institute in Kunovice. His research interest is focused on development at different geographical scales.

Robert Stojanov
Robert Stojanov graduated at the University of Hradec Kralove in 1998 in History, Social Studies and Geography (M.A.) and at the Masaryk University in Brno in 2001 in Environmental Humanities (M.A.). Recently, he is going to complete his PhD studies at the University of Ostrava in Environmental Geography. His study and residence abroad comprises Kosovo, Austria, Canada, China, Romania, Slovakia, Kenya and Tanzania. Since February 2007 he is Director of the newly established Institute for Migration and Development Research at European Polytechnic Institute in Kunovice. His research interest is focused on links among development, environment, security and human migration issue. During past few years Robert Stojanov was working as researcher for the following institutions:
