Come and contribute to the rapid revitalization of the city of Ostrava
At our newly refurbished department students will enjoy a friendly atmosphere and a combination of modern teaching approaches (lectures, seminars, group discussions and student presentations) aimed at enhancing students’ study skills. They will also have access to a well-equipped library with thousands of up-to-date texts, access to scientific databases, internet connection (WI-FI, Eduroam) and computer rooms. Students may also enrol in other courses taught at Ostrava University, including language courses (English, German, Spanish, Portugal, Russian, French, Italian, Polish or even Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Croatian, Slovak, Vietnamese and Hebrew), other individually taught courses at our department and courses from different departments (including Physical Geography) and faculties. Thus we intend to offer students maximum flexibility to arrange their study according to their own individual needs, although Geography will remain the main component of their study.

However, there is more to the Ostrava course than just study. It offers an opportunity to get to know both Czech society and Central Europe. As a result of Ostrava’s fortuitous location, students can easily visit the capitals of four neighbouring countries (Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava and Warsaw), which are situated on the virtual perimeter of a circle that has Ostrava as its centre. Through membership of the Erasmus Student Club at Ostrava University students will be able to take advantage of guided tours around Central Europe. In addition, the environs of Ostrava itself offer students many interesting ways to spend their leisure time. Besides being the third largest city, Ostrava is proud of its new-found reputation as the night life capital of the Czechia!
